I feel that it is important to eat with the seasons to ensure that you are eating the freshest foods available to you, that will have the most nutritional value, therefore offering the most benefit to your body. A brilliant little website that I always refer to is 'Eat the seasons' which I have added a link to on my links page. There they list the foods currently in seaon along with some more wonderful recipes for you to try.
I always promote the use of organic produce where possible as it is a fact that the food we grow now does not contain as many nutrients as it would have done just a hundred years ago!
The levels of nutrients can still fluctuate in organic produce too but you have a far better chance of higher levels in these along with the knowledge that they have not been sprayed with pesticides. These chemicals are foreign to the body which it then has to deal with somehow, using up precious energy that could be used instead for repairing itself.
If you have any favourite recipes using natural ingredients that you would like to share please e- mail me with them and I will add them to this page.

Fennel - has a delicious aniseed type flavour and is traditionally used as a digestive aid. Try making your own fennel tea by crushing 1 -2 teaspoons of fennel seeds in a pestle and mortar, then steeping them in some boiling water for 5 mins. Dry itchy eyes can be relieved by pouring a cup of boiling water over 1tsp of fennel seeds. Steep for 20 mins, strain and cool. Soak a cloth in the tea and apply to closed eyes for 5 mins daily. |
