What is nutritional therapy? Nutritional therapy is not just about eating the right foods. It aims to correct any vitamin and mineral deficiencies, improve digestive functioning (to ensure nutrients are being absorbed), balance hormones naturally and eliminate toxins from the body. Nutritional therapy, when used positively, can often assist in the prevention and improvement of many common health complaints including:
- Digestive disorders
- Food intolerances
- General fatigue/chronic fatigue
- Depression and anxiety
- Pre-menstrual syndrome
- Headaches and migraines
- Childhood development disorders
Illness exists in a body that is said to be out of balance. Very often all that is needed to bring the body back into a state of balance are a few simple changes. The body has a remarkable ability to heal itself, but in order to do so it must receive the right amount and balance of nutrients.
What can I expect from a consultation? I usually ask a client to fill in a detailed questionnaire and keep a short “food diary” prior to their consultation. You will need to allow about an hour and a half for the consultation in which any specific health concerns will be discussed in more detail. I will then work with you to devise an individually tailored nutritional programme. I will set you easily achievable goals which we mutually agree on, whilst taking into account your specific needs, medical history and health concerns. I will also advise you on any herbs or supplements that I feel may be relevant to your particular needs and also support you and your body back to health.
